The difference in the game; a two yard run for Caledonia in the fourth quarter(6:07). Michael Mabe blocked the extra point for Chatfield, but Caledonia had all it needed to get the 6-0, Three Rivers Conference win, and remain undefeated for the season at 6-0. Chatfield is now 5-1, 2-1 in the TRC-South, and moves 'into the riders seat, along with Rushford-Peterson(2-1, 4-2).

"The kids played tough, said Coach Jeff Johnson. We had a couple of opportunities to score in the first half and didn't take advantage. A holding call on the five yard line stopped our drive in the first quarter and we ended up getting our kick blocked. Then we drove the field again in the second quarter and missed a 30 yard field goal, wide left, but had the distance", he added.

"The key to Caledonia's victory was them being able to drive the ball 70 yards in the third quarter and virtually use the entire third quarter. We ran three plays in the third quarter." Caledonia didn't score on this drive, but did on the subsequent drive in the fourth quarter, after taking the ball over on the Chatfield 20 yard line. Over half of Caledonia's total yards came on that third quarter drive and the 20 yards to score in the fourth quarter.

Chatfield held a 120 yds-20 yd edge, approximately, in the first half, but went into the intermission tied at 0-0.

Chalk this victory up to Caledonia on their past experience of having been 'in the big game' in the past. Everyone knows the history of Caledonia's winning championships, now maybe this experience of being so close, can balance the table a bit! It is entirely possible that these two teams could meet again in the playoffs and Chatfield will know what it's going to take to get that 'W'.

On offense, the Gophers were led by Jake Neis. Neis carried the ball 16 times, for a total of 70 yards. Justin Viss had 'tough sledding', gaining 22 yards only on nine carries. Ryan Meeker carried five times for 18 yards and Jayme LaPlante had fourteen yards on one carry. Quarterback Nate Skare had his number called five times and lost eight yards.

Skare was 3/12 in the passing department, for 29 yards and one interception. Reid Danielson had two of the receptions for a total of 22 yards. LaPlante had the other catch for seven yards.

Special teams: Punting: Nate Skare (5/36.5, one blocked) Kickoffs: Sawyer Prinzen (1/54) Kickoff returns: Alex Bradt (2/12.5) Punt returns; Bradt (1/14).
