With all the ugly weather, it hardly seems like we've had a spring season this year, but the Gopher gals sit on top of the Three Rivers-South softball standings with a perfect 7-0 record. The team also has a non-conference win over Pine Island, making them undefeated for the season at 8-0.
Chatfield's Shelby Bernard beats the throw to third base against Rushford-Peterson.
Most recently, Chatfield picked up a pair of 6-5 wins over Rushford-Peterson and a win over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro, 8-4. The second game of the double-header with FCL was suspended with the Lady Gophers leading 6-0 in the second inning. The suspended game will be completed on Wednesday, May 8, in Preston.
Monday morning I got information from Dave Gisvold, East 1A Subsection Tournament manager, on the seeding procedure, etc., so you know the regular season is coming to an end real soon. Chatfield plays its last regular season game next week, May 16, against Rochester John Marshall.
In game one against R-P, Brook Irish and Kirsten Keefe each had two hits to lead the Gopher¹s hitting attack Jennifer Hanson pitched the entire game for Chatfield, giving up five hits, three earned runs, five walks, while striking out six.
