Last week the Chatfield gals split a pair of games, losing to Pine Island on Valentine's Day, 35-34, and downing Lewiston-Altura, 53-27, Friday. The gals played at Rushford-Peterson this past Monday to finish off the regular season.

In the one point loss to the Panthers, Sidney Irish led the team with 15 points,including 4/5 from three-point range. MaKenzie Miller had seven points and Maddie Talamantes added five. Talamantes topped the rebound chart with seven. The Gophers only connected on five of 13 from the free throw line. Kirsten Keefe had a team high four assists.

In the Three Rivers Conference match-up with Lewiston-Altura, every player on the roster got into the game, and 10 different players scored. A couple "B" squad players, Sydney Gould and Maddy Larrabee, also got into the action against the Cardinals.

MaKenzie Miller led the scoring for Chatfield with 17, hitting eight of 12 shots from the field. She also led the team with eight rebounds. Three players, Kirsten Keefe, Sidney Irish and Maddie Talamantes, had four steals and Keefe had a team high four assists. Talamantes had three 'dishes'.

With the regular season coming to an end, the gals will now be preparing for the Sub-section 1AA-East Tournament, where they are the #1 seed. The Lady Gophers will host Lewiston-Altura (#8) Thursday night in the first round of the playoffs. The winner of the Chatfield/L-A game will take on the winner of the Winona Cotter (#4)/LaCrescent (#5) game, Monday, Feb. 25. Other first round games; Caledonia (#2) will play Wabasha-Kellogg (#7) and Plainview-Elgin-Millville (#3) will host St. Charles (#6). The semi-finals and finals (Saturday, March 2, 11 a.m.) will be played in Rochester, at the Mayo Civic Center.
