The Chatfield Gopher volleyball team lost its quest for a Subsection

championship, falling to Caledonia, 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 19-25) in the 1AA

East Subsection finals. Caledonia went on to down Kasson-Mantorville, 3-1,

and will now advance to the State Tournament in St. Paul this Thursday

through Saturday.

The Gophers were never really in contention in set one, but did play

very competitive volleyball in sets two and three.

In set two, there were seven ties in the game, the last being at 23-23,

before Caledonia ran off the last two points for the 23-25 win. In set

three, the two teams were tied at 17-17, before the Warriors finished off

the match with an 8-2 run.

Stats for the Caledonia are as follows...Gabrielle Salisbury (9/10 serving, 16

set assists, 7 digs); Alex Duxbury (10/12 serving, 15/16 serve receive, SR,

17 digs); Kileigh Dudek (13/13 serving, 3/3 SR, 7 set assists, 5 digs);

Kirsten Keefe (5/6 serving, 21/21 SR, 7 kills, 15 digs); Haley Kohlmeyer

(2/2 SR, 5 kills, 2 blocks); Maddie Talamantes (12/12 serving, 11/12 SR, 9

digs); MaKenzie Miller (4 kills, 3.5 blocks), Maddy Kammer (4/5 SR, 4 kills,

1.5 blocks); Sheridan Salisbury (9/10 serving, 8/8 SR, 3 kills, 4 digs);

Brook Irish (1/1 SR, 5 kills, 2.5 blocks).

As a team, Chatfield was 58/63 (92.1%) in serving, 65/68 (95.6%) in

serve receive, 28 kills, 10 ace blocks and 61 digs. The team did not have

any ace serves in the match and hit only .062.

With the loss to Caledonia the team finished the season with a 21-10

record.
