Chosen Valley Golf Club played host to its first high school golf meet of the spring as the Chatfield Gophers hosted the Dover-Eyota Eagles this past Thursday. Though neither of the boys' or girls' teams had enough competitors to factor into the team scores, the Gophers did have solid individual scores on their home course.
Like the Gopher girls, Dover-Eyota was also unable to field a full team as both teams received incompletes for their team scores. Of the Chatfield golfers that did compete, Morgan Henry led the way, shooting a 57. The only other golfer to compete for the girls' team was Paige Isensee, who fired a 59.
The Gophers boys' team was again led by Chris Hanson, who shot a 51. Junior Rhett Littrell had the second best score for Chatfield, shooting a 54. Finishing one stroke behind Littrell was Alex Hompe with a 55. The Eagles took the team win on the boys' side with a total of 209 strokes while the Gophers were one golfer shy of factoring into the team decision thus receiving an incomplete.
The Gophers golf teams have a busy week upcoming, beginning with a trip to Cedar River Golf Course in Adams on Tuesday to take on the Southland Rebels. The Gophers will then host Rushford-Peterson at Chosen Valley Golf Course followed by another home meet on Friday against the St. Charles Saints.
