Gophers Tied For Lead; 5-0 in TRC

The Chatfield Gophers baseball team is 5-0 in the Three Rivers Conference, 12 game up on Wabasha-Kellogg (4-0) and one game up on Southland (3-0), who are also undefeated in TRC play. Chatfield¹s lone loss so far this season has been to Hermantown, 8-6.
The Gophers got two games in last week, before winter returned¹. They beat Lewiston-Altura, 7-1 last Monday and Rushford-Peterson, 3-2, in an abbreviated game on Tuesday.
Tommy Jech, Sawyer Prinsen and Mitch Irish each had two hits in the win over the Cardinals. The trio also accounted for five of the seven runs in the win. Prinsen had two rbi.
Jake Neis pitched five innings in picking up the Chatfield win. Neis gave up two hits, one run(earned), four walks and struck out five. Ethan Woltz pitched two innings of shutout relief; striking out two and walking three.
Pitching had some good moments," said Brian Baum, head coach for the Chatfield Gophers, "but again, way too many walks. Many of the walks put us in some tough situations, but we managed to get out of them. They did make some big pitches when they needed to," Baum added.
No information was available for the Rushford-Peterson win.
The week the Gophers are busy againhopefully no SNOW! Monday they traveled to Dover-Eyota, at Wabasha-Kellogg on Tuesday, Southland on Thursday for a double-header, and Saturday they will head over to Lewiston-Altura.
