In back-to-back nights, the Chatfield boys basketball team had to play

the top two teams in the Three Rivers Conference. Thursday night they

'knocked off' Rushford-Peterson, 55-49, but came up a little short against

Plainview-Elgin-Millville, 61-58.

Leading the way against the Trojans was Jayme LaPlante with 22 points

and five rebounds. LaPlante hit 10 of 12 shots from the field and both of

his free throws in the six point win. Also having a fine 'inside game' was

Brandon Adler. Adler hit 3/5 from the field and the line for nine points.

He also pulled down seven rebounds.

Jake Neis had a fine floor game against R-P, pulling down eight 'boards'

and dishing out eight assists, along with scoring five points. Nate Skare

had a team high nine rebounds and Christian Bance had a pair of

'three-pointers' and finished the game with eight points. Reid Danielson

was also very noticeable on the floor, coming up with five assists, two

steals and three rebounds.

A basket by Jayme LaPlante with the score tied at 45-45 at the 3:10 mark

gave the Gophers a lead they would not relingquish. Reid Danielson hit a

pair of free throws with five seconds left in the game, solidifying the

Gopher win.

"We played a very good game against the number one team in the

conference," said Coach Tom Bance. "Besides a few too many turnovers, we

played well in every aspect of the game," he concluded.

Individual scoring vs R-P: Jayme LaPlante 22, Reid Danielson 2, Luke

Isensee 2, Christian Bance 8, Nate Skare 3, Jake Neis 5, Mitch Irish 4,

Brandon Adler 9. Three's, 2:Bance (2).

In the loss to Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Jake Neis 'lit up the board'

for 23 points, connecting on eight of 14 shots from the field, including 5/7

from 'downtown.' Jayme LaPlante had a solid game with eight points (3/3 fg,

2/2 ft), four rebounds, three steals and six assists. Mitch Irish had a

team high 10 rebounds, along with nine points. Reid Danielson dished out

five assists, to go along with his four points.

"We played hard and had a shot to tie at the end, but it was blocked,"

said Coach Bance. Very tight game the whole way," he added.
