"Overall, I was impressed with our performance," said Chatfield cross country coach Chris Frye. We had a hard workout on Tuesday and didn't rest up for this meet (Pine Island), yet had three runners place in the top 10 (two girls, one boy), and four set personal records (PRs). That's a good effort," added Frye.

Setting the PR's were Hannah Friedrich (41st, 17:50.3, third for Chatfield), Maddy Larrabee (18:59.6, 65th sixth for Chatfield), Gracie Grant (21:30.8, 103rd) and Keagan Clarke (60th, 19:36.7, third for Chatfield).

Finishing in the top 10 were Kayla Woltz (3rd, 15:28.6), Karen Gomez (10th, 16:21.7) in the girls race and Christian Bance (10th, 17:42.8) for the boys.

The girls team finished fourth out of 11 teams and the boys 10th of 12.

Besides the five girls already mentioned, others running for the Gophers were Mary Simpson (43rd, fourth for Chatfield, 17:55.8), Haley Woltz (46th, fifth for Chatfield, 17:58.2) and Elizabeth Walsh (seventh for Chatfield, 99th, 21:00.0).

Justin Friedrich had another good race for the Chatfield team. Justin finished 28th, and second for Chatfield, in a time of 18:31.4. Other guys running were Dan Narveson (107th, 21:20.5, fourth for Chatfield), Kevin Bradt (fifth for Chatfield, 21:22.5, 110th), Alex Lien (sixth for Chatfield, 21:36.2, 116th), Anthony Voigt (seventh for Chatfield, 130th, 22:26.1), and Tim Hawkins (23:00.8).

Bennett Gathje (11:01.2) ran the 2400 meter junior high race and finished 49th.

This week the Chatfield team is in Kingsland on Tuesday and will host "The Shoe" next Tuesday, Oct. 2.
