Volleyball Team Wins Two

This past week the Chatfield volleyball team 'collected' a pair of Three Rivers Conference wins over Rushford-Peterson (3-0; 25-13, 25-13, 25-22) and Plainview-Elgin-Millville (3-0; 25-17, 25-10, 25-16), improving their overall record to 21-8, and their TRC record to 9-1. The Gophers are currently in second place in the TRC standings, one game behind Fillmore Central (10-0, 27-2). The Gophers finish their regular season next Monday, Oct. 21, at Dover-Eyota, and then start 1AA East sub-section play on Thursday, Oct. 24. The Lady Gophers are 'in line' to get the #1 seed in the East, and host their first round match.

In the win over RP, Chatfield had great serve receiving (SR, 45/46, 97.8%) and good serving (74/79, 93.7%). Leading the way in the SR were Alex Duxbury (24/24) and Kirsten Keefe (11/11), with Maddie Talamantes 5/5. Top servers were Gabrielle Salisbury (22/23, 5 aces), Maddy Kammer (12/13, 2 aces), Kirsten Keefe (16/16, 4 aces) and Camille Rasmussen (11/12). Brooke Adler was tops in kills with nine, followed by Kirsten Keefe (8), Brook Irish (7) and Maddy Kammer (5). Sisters Gabrielle (15) and Sheridan (13) Salisbury led the team in set assists, while Irish and Rasmussen topped the block stats with two each. Dig leaders were Keefe (20) and Duxbury (15).
In the win over the Bulldogs, Kirsten Keefe topped the serve receive list with 18 for 18 and was 11/12 at the service line. Hitting 100% of the serves were Alex Duxbury (18/18), Sheridan Salisbury (9/9) and Maddie Talamantes (7/7). The Lady 'Gophs' had 11 ace serves, all delivered by Duxbury (6) and Gabrielle Salisbury (5). The gals had great balance in the kill department, led by Brook Irish (7), Camille Rasmussen (6), Brooke Adler (6), Kirsten Keefe (5) and Maddy Kammer (4). Rasmussen led the team in hitting efficiency at .364. Three players were in double-figures with digs; G Salisbury (10), Keefe (13) and Duxbury (16). Brook Irish had three ace blocks while Gabrielle (14) and Sheridan (9) Salisbury shared the set assists.
Final regular season match is Monday, Oct. 21, at Dover-Eyota. Playoffs start Thursday, Oct. 24 for Class AA.
