The Chatfield gals went 5-0 at the Byron Tournament, beating the Bears in the championship match, 2-0; 25-20, 26-24. In the second set (game) of the championship match, Chatfield was leading 20-11, but relinquished that 'edge' when Byron went on an 11-1 'run', and took a 22-21 lead. Chatfield remained calm (on the outside anyway), tied the match at 24-24 and then served out the final two points (Sheridan Salisbury) for the set, and the match.

Enroute to the championship match with Byron, the Lady Gophers got wins in pool play over Fillmore Central (2-0; 25-17, 25-21), Goodhue (2-0; 25-18, 25-17), Kenyon-Wanamingo (2-1; 25-19, 20-25, 15-4) and Pine Island (2-0; 25-12, 25-10).

Last Thursday, Chatfield got a Three Rivers Conference win over Lewiston-Altura, 3-0; 25-13, 25-20, 25-20. As a team the Gophers were 70/74 in serving and 43/48 in serve receive. The serving was done by Gabrielle Salisbury (8/8), Alex Duxbury (15/16), Kileigh Dudek (16/17), Kirsten Keefe (8/8), Maddie Talamantes (13/14) and Sheridan Salisbury (10/11). Dudek led the team with three ace serves. Serve receive leaders were Duxbury (20/21), Keefe (12/14), Talamantes (5/5), Maddy Kammer (4/4) and S Salisbury (2/3).

Makenzie Miller led the team with eight kills Haley Kohlmeyer and Maddy Kammer each had five. Camille Rasmussen had four 'spikes'. Set assists were shared by Gabrielle Salisbury (13) and Kileigh Dudek (10). Kohlmeyer (2.5) and S Salisbury (1.5) led in ace blocks.

Dig leaders were Duxbury (16) and Talamantes (9).

This week the gals are on the road for two matchesa non-conference game with Fillmore Central on Tuesday and a TRC match with Caledonia on Thursday.
