David Allen Cox, 56, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, in Bloom-ington, Ill.

David Allen Cox was born May 5, 1956, in Rochester, to the late Charles

Thomas Cox Sr. and Mary Alice (Schoenfelder) Cox. He resided most of his

life in Rochester, attending the public schools, including John Marshall

High School. He served in the Marine Corps.

He loved to cook and throughout his career he worked at Henry

Wellington, City Cafe, Newt's and WestFire Grill. He was quite proud of his

signature burger, Dave's Burger, on Newt's menu.

The past seven years, he has lived in Illinois, working at the RedFire

Grill, and most recently at State Farm Corp. Office as an early morning chef

where he often had his regular customers' breakfasts ready before they even

ordered.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his flower gardens and a good day of

sunshine canoeing down the river. He also had many indoor plants and enjoyed

music.

He will be forever remembered for the many laughs and smiles he shared

with family and friends. He is loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sisters, Pat (Paul) Musolf of Chatfield, Pam

(Wayne) Wegner and Paula Oates, both of Rochester; his brothers, Charles T.

"Tom" Cox Jr. (Ione), Joseph F. (MaryAnn), Jim (Denise) and Jeff (Annie),

all of Rochester; aunts and uncles; and many nieces and nephews. He is also

survived by longtime friends, Kevin and Jeanne Hull and their children.

His wish was to use his body as an organ donor.

The family will have a celebration of life gathering at a later date.

Condolences can be sent to the family at Jeff Cox, 301 18-1/2 Ave. S.W.,

Rochester, MN 55902.
