Kenneth "Ken" Wooner was born on April 20, 1928 in

Olmsted County. He was the son of Harry and Alma Wooner. The family later

moved to Chatfield where Kenneth attended school until enlisting in the U.S.

In August of 1949, Ken married Barbara Ann Hesby in Chatfield. They

moved to Rochester for a short time before returning to rural Chatfield to

live until 1955. Mr. Wooner worked for Ole's Floor Mart in Rochester and it

was decided that driving back and forth wasn't practical so he moved his

family to Rochester and lived there until his death.

Ken worked as a part-time sheriff's deputy in Olmsted County as well as

a part-time security guard at the newly opened Apache Mall Shopping Center

in Rochester. Even-tually, Ken took a full-time security position at Apache

Mall which led to his being promoted to "head" of the department. After his

retirement from the full-time position, Ken was asked to stay on part-time

at the mall which he did until his early 70s.

Ken was active in the Boy Scouts of America, as well as the Rochester

Civic Theatre. He was an excellent dancer and belonged to a square dance

club, a folk dancing group and even did a few square dance calls himself. He

loved to dance. Spending time at the Pla-Mor Ballroom dancing to the

old-time music and country music was something he loved very much. Ken

enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, snowmobiling, woodworking, watching

western movies, listening to country western music and John Wayne!

In 1979, his wife Barbara passed away. Kenneth remarried in April of

1981 to Joan Veloske of Rochester, they later divorced.

Kenneth is survived by his brother Lowell Wooner, of Chatfield; his four
