LaVon M. Fieseler, 84, a longtime Eyota resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

LaVon was born March 22, 1929 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Herbert and Ruth (Franson) Griggs. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1948. On Jan. 16, 1950 she married Wilmer Fieseler in Iowa. They later divorced. They farmed in north central Iowa and in 1956 moved to a farm south of Eyota. LaVon raised poultry and was known as the egg lady. She also worked for 20 years at Libby's in Rochester. She moved into Eyota in the mid 1980's. She was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Eyota American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Rural Robins Club. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and going to the casino.

LaVon is survived by six sons, Stanley of Chatfield, Larry (Marlys), EuGene (Diane), Mark (Shirley), William (Denise) and Kevin (Karen) all of Eyota; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister, Lora, and one brother, Vincent.

The funeral service was Saturday, Oct. 5, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eyota with Rev. Jonathan Vollrath officiating. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Eyota.
