Loretta O'Neil, 81, of Rochester, died at Rochester Methodist HospitalTuesday, March 5, 2013.

Loretta Ellen O'Neil was born Nov. 14, 1931, at home in Cummingsville, (Olmsted County), to John P. and Katharin L. (Dueppen) O'Neil. She attended rural school District 17.

She became developmentally disabled after age 2, and was unable to attend school full-time.

She lived at the Social Adaption Center at the State Hospital until its closing, then at Rochester Healthcare until moving to Hiawatha Homes in 2000. She was active at Possabilities Senior Program until recently.

She loved old time music, dancing, going to movies, out to eat and bowling. Her favorite television programs were "The Lawrence Welk Show," "The Andy Griffith Show" and "The Price is Right." She also enjoyed westernmovies.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Cecilia; sisters-in-law, Rosanne O'Neil, and Mary O'Neil; seven nieces; five nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Sylvester, Paul, Agnes, Jack, and Teresa, nephew, John, and niece, Peggy.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 9, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Jewison officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
