Students take art outdoors, even in winter
"I have a son who is an art student in college, and it's given me an appreciation for things he's learned and done. Also, art and music are the first things to go when there are budgetary problems, and I like to come up here, I like working with the kids, volunteering," said Cleveland, a resident of Spring Valley. "Now that I don't get paid to work, I do what work I like."

Middle school has interventionist to help students in reading, math
"I'm mainly a reading and math interventionist," said Kingsland Middle School's Weinmann, "so the staff is helping me out, getting materials, freshening me up on that. I'm working with fourth through sixth graders, and it's tentative, based on the needs of the students. For now, I'm going into mainstream classrooms, and if I see a student who needs one-to-one help, I help, or they come in here in groups of eight or so and work together with me."

New drama club creates a close-knit group at Kingsland

Kingsland Public Schools held their annual District Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 30, at the middle school in Wykoff. Participants included 20 students in grades five through eight.

St. John's student wins a chance for college scholarship
Reece Eickhoff, an eighth grade student at St. John Lutheran School in Wykoff, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee and a chance at a $50,000 college scholarship. Ian Meisner took second place and Daniel Hayes-Hall took third place in the competition. The students answered questions on geography at the school-level Bee. This level was the first round in the 26th annual National Geographic Bee.
