This past week the Kingsland Knights split a pair of Three Rivers Conference games, finishing the season 15-5 in TRC play and 18-8, overall. The 15-5 record in the Three Rivers gives the Knights a tie with Rushford-Peterson for second place. Plainview-Elgin-Millville won the conference with an 18-2 record.
The boys lost to Southland, 69-62, and beat a Class A ranked Rushford-Peterson team, 56-49.
In the loss to the Rebels, Sam Eberle had a double-double with 17 points and 10 steals. Tanner Lange led the team in scoring with 22. Spencer Klevan also hit double figures with 10 points. Also scoring for the Knights were Marshall Oeltjen (4), Devin Pokorney (5) and Josh Thompson (2).
In the win over the Trojans, "Sam owned the floor," said coach Paul Eckheart. Eberle led the team with 20 points, 10 steals and five assists. Lange (10) and Klevan (14) also scored in double figures. Klevan added 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Rounding out the scoring against R-P were Soren Grandall (4), Pokorney (6) and Thompson (2).
"This was a great win for these young men on 'Senior Night,'" said Eckheart. "It put us in a tie for second place in the conference. And, it was fun to have the dads sing the National Anthem. Good way to tune-up for the upcoming playoffs."
