Music, food part of event Sunday to aid Wykoff church
"We're hosting an afternoon of music this Sunday from noon to 3, and there are at least three groups set to perform," said Wykoff United Methodist Church (WUMC) Breath of Life Committee member Dianne Bicknese, inviting the public to join WUMC and committee members at the fundraiser concert and dinner in downtown Wykoff to help garner funds for the church's entryway and lower level flooring project.

Relay for Life brings family closer together
Melissa Davis was diagnosed in March 2013 with cancer and had surgery a week later. Her family quickly rallied its support, forming Spring Valley Moonlighters - Team Melissa for the annual Relay for Life event in Fillmore County.

"I collect coins, bottle caps, trading cards, old license plates, rocks and agates, shells and starfish, old glass insulators and old dollar bills - I like to collect a lot of old currency," said Isaac, son of John and Jenny Simon, referring to his "collection of collections" presently on display at the Spring Valley Public Library, of which he's particularly proud.

Library looking at options to upgrade computers that are no longer supported
"Our computers are eight years old, and in terms of computer life, these are very elderly," said Spring Valley Public Library director Jenny Simon, speaking of the patron computers that serve numerous library visitors each day but are still operating on Windows XP, an operating system no longer supported or updated by Windows and thereby susceptible to crashes that can't be fixed.
