All five people involved in a two-car head-on collision Saturday evening in Spring Valley were transported to St. Marys in Rochester.
A northbound GMC Yukon driven by Jerry Asmussen, 63, of Rochester crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Cadillac Escalade driven by Joanne Reicks, 45, of Cresco, causing her vehicle to roll over. There were three passengers in the Reicks' vehicle. None of the injuries are life threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The accident occurred at 6:45 p.m. on Highway 16 & 63 in front of the tourist information center just north of the intersection with Grant Street.
The passengers in the Reicks' vehicle were Lori Born, 41, Lori Stapelkamp, 49, and Elizabeth Powers, 36. All are from Cresco.
Assmusen was not wearing a seat belt while the four people in the other car were using seat belts. Alcohol was detected on Rasmussen, the State Patrol reported in the incident record.
The State Patrol is investigating. Assisting on the scene were the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department, Preston Police Department, Spring Valley Ambulance Service, Grand Meadow Ambulance Service and Spring Valley Fire Department.
