Conference boys basketball statistics show some deadly shooters
The top offensive team in the Three Rivers Conference is Caledonia, averaging 78.53 points per game, and the top defensive team is Rushford-Peterson, giving up 47.10 points per game, according to end-of-the-season statistics for the conference.

Young Fillmore Central girls finish as sub-section runner-up
The bad news is, the Fillmore Central girls basketball team lost in the sub-section finals to Rushford-Peterson, 34-20. But the good news is, every one of the Lady Falcons has the opportunity to return next year, and try again, for the sub-section crown, and maybe more. The current roster consists of five juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen - good news for coach Sarah Tollefsrud.

Mabel-Canton girls give Rushford-Peterson a scare
Mabel-Canton met Rushford-Peterson in the Sub-section 1A East semi-finals on March 4. The last time the teams met (Jan. 10), Rushford-Peterson (R-P) walked away with a 74-55 victory. This time, it was different. The Cougars gave the Trojans all the competition they wanted before bowing out of the tournament, 68-60.

It just doesn't get any better than this: Niko Anderson, 182 lb., Class A state champion. Anderson went through the tournament, 4-0, and all of his match wins were decisions, creating heart-popping anxiety throughout the tournament.

M-C girls bound for sub-section semi-final
Mabel-Canton opened sub-section tournament play at home last Thursday, defeating Wabasha-Kellogg, 51-44. The fifth-seeded Cougars were led by senior guard Lydia Geving, who helped send the sixth seeded W-K Falcons packing.

Cougar boys basketball season comes to a close
Last Tuesday's sub-section semi-finals pitted a pair of teams who know each other well - Mabel-Canton and Spring Grove - for a chance to take on the third-ranked team in state polling. In their third meeting of the season, Spring Grove defeated Mabel-Canton, 62-46.
