Help Our Neighbors organization offering seminar for families with aging parents
In a recent survey it was reported that over 80 percent of seniors would rather live out the rest of their days in their own home and not in an assisted living or similar facility. At one time, there were only two choices for seniors and they were to stay in their home or live with their children. Now, there are so many choices and services to help seniors live in their homes longer. It is important to hold family meetings with one's parents to discuss how it will work and if additional in-home help will be needed.

Fountain council updated on installation of new trail maps

Chatfield students advance to state speech competition
"I'm really excited. I can't express how actually excited I am," Norton said. "I've been in speech since seventh grade and I've been close at sections, but actually being able to win and go to state is really emotional, especially because I'm a senior and this is my last's something I really wanted to do.

Students earn top honors at state science, engineering fair
"First, doing a project is about getting a solid idea and doing your data collecting in an orderly fashion," said Chatfield High School senior Friedrich, who was one of five students representing Chatfield Public Schools at the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair. The event was held Saturday, March 29, through Monday, April 1, in Bloomington, Minn., where approximately 500 middle and high school students presented their hypotheses, methods and solutions to judges seeking the most innovative science projects in the state.

Laugh out loud this Saturday at the Chatfield Center for the Arts
"There are a lot of standup comedy lineups that feature all male comedians, but this show is exclusively showcasing some of the best female comics that the Midwest has to offer," explained Tony Cole, a Chatfield Center for the Arts volunteer. "With a title like 'Lipstick and Laughs' (LAL!), you know this has to be a great show."

Citizens gather for update on city street, utility project
Residents of Bench, Twiford, St. Alban's Place in Chatfield proper and various streets in west Chatfield gathered at Chatfield's city hall last Monday evening for a neighborhood open house hosted by the city and WSB & Associates, the city's contracted engineering firm, to discuss upcoming street and utility improvements.

"My project is on evolution and fundamentalism, and whether evolution should be taught in schools," said Chatfield High School student Harris, who, along with Hanson, is part of the delegation of 15 of Tom Hilgren's history students advancing to the state History Day competition at the University of Minnesota on Saturday, May 3.

Workshops for seniors being hosted to help reduce stress
The parish nurse at Chatfield United Methodist explained a series of workshops being held this year at The Gathering Place, a senior citizen meeting center. The stress relievers are being hosted by Help Our Neighbors (HON) for seniors who would like to learn how to find calm even when they are not feeling well-balanced.

Hop down to the park for annual Easter egg hunt
"This year's Easter egg hunt will be held at the city park band shell, rain, snow, sun or frost," said Chatfield Commercial Club President Paula Bessingpas. She and her fellow business owners are preparing to welcome little peeps to hunt for Easter eggs in the park on Saturday, April 12, at 9 a.m., no matter what the weather.
