Gophers finish third in state in baseball

Coming off of a thrilling run through the Section 1A tournament, the Chatfield Gopher baseball team was back in action at the state tournament, which ended with a third place finish.

Coaches and players from the area will participate in the 41st annual Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Tackle Cancer All-Star Football Game 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Clemens Stadium on the campus of St. John's University at Collegeville.

TJ Moechnig, Jake Neis and Nate Skare of Chatfield High School have been named recipients of this year's Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team award for Class A baseball.

Five Gophers advance to state meet in track
The remaining Gopher track and field athletes participated in the section meet held on Tuesday and Thursday of last week in Winona. Of the 10 Gophers to compete in the meet, five will be advancing to the state meet on June 6 and 7.

Chatfield advances 10 to section track meet
The Gopher track and field teams began postseason competition last Thursday with the 1A sub-section meet, which was held in Chatfield. Both teams turned in a number of outstanding performances, combining to advance 10 athletes to the section meet this week.

Gophers win final regular season softball game
The Gopher softball team began postseason play last week, starting on Monday with a game against the Goodhue Wildcats. After winning that game, they advanced to the second round where they fell to the Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons on Thursday.

Gophers close out regular season with win, open tourney with another victory
The Chatfield baseball team closed out its regular season on Monday against the GMLOK Bulldogs with a game that was rescheduled after being postponed due to inclement weather earlier in the year. From there, they began postseason play, opening up the sub-section tournament with a game against the Houston Cougars on Thursday.
