Find your toilets clogged? Forget the panic and consider these simple and effective solutions you can do-it-yourself at home. Using everyday household items such as baking soda, vinegar or ammonia, you can easily unclog your toilets.
Unclogging Using Baking Soda and Vinegar
To start, pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Use a toilet brush to spread the baking soda around. Add two cups of white vinegar onto the baking soda. Let this mixture react for about 10 minutes before flushing to clear the clog.
Using Hot Water
Hot water can also be an effective tool. Start by turning off the water to the toilet, then fill a bucket with hot water. Pour the hot water into the toilet bowl and wait for a minute before flushing. If the clog still persists, try adding liquid soap after the hot water rinse.
Ammonia Application
If you have ammonia at home, you can use it to clear your toilet clog. Don't forget to use personal protective equipment like a mask, gloves, and safety glasses. Mix water and ammonia, and pour the solution into the toilet bowl. Let the mixture sit for an hour before pouring hot (but not boiling) water into the toilet bowl.
DIY Toilet Bombs
You can also create your own toilet bombs for future use. Mix Epsom salt with baking soda then slowly add dish soap to the mixture. Spread this mixture into silicone molds and let them dry overnight. Once dry, carefully remove the toilet bombs from the molds and store them in an airtight container for future use.
