Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton track and field athletes competed at the SEC conference meet on May 13, then traveled to Rushford-Peterson two days later.

Tuesday's meet took place at Grand Meadow and featured four teams.

L/FC/M-C took first in boys, and second in girls events, defeating second-place Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland 140.5 to 74 in the former, and losing out to the same team 104-94.5 in the latter. Schaeffer Academy took third in both boys and girls competitions, followed by Lyle/Pacelli.

Burro Niko Anderson won the 100M dash in 11.94, with teammate Gabe Decker close behind. He also helped the 4x100 relay to victory with Decker, Damon Zutz, and Alex Reed. In addition, Anderson won the 200M dash in 24.70, and took the long jump crown at 17-11.50.

Decker also won the pole vault (10-06.00) with Reed in second.

The 4x200 team of Zutz, Reed, Montgomery Holm, and Decker won their event in 1:40.36. The 4x400 team of Quentin Case, Zutz, Zach Voeltz, and Holm won their race in 3:47.85. Voeltz won the 800M run in 2:14.07.

Throwers Eric Holst and Mac Stone dominated shot put and discus. Stone won the former (39 feet, 3 inches) with Holst in second. Holst won the latter (114-10.5) with Stone in second.

Teammates Case and Bram Van Lent carried the hurdles. Case won the 110-meter variety in 17.55 and the 300M in 44.42. Van Lent took second in both, and went on to win the triple jump at 36-09.25.

Holm won the individual 400M dash in 56.03, with teammates Treyton Chiglo and Layton Howerton in third and fourth, respectively.

Travis Troendle won the 3200M run in 10.50.23. He placed second in the 1600M, with Voeltz in fourth.

The 4x800 team of Howerton, Matthew Kiehne, Steven Rein, and Chiglo took second.

Aaron Eversole took third in the 3200M, and Marcus Mulvihill finished tied for third in high jump.

Chiglo took fourth in pole vault. Reed took fourth in triple jump. Christopher Freese took fifth in discus. Michael Harrison took fifth in the 800M run.

For the ladies, Kenzie Broadwater won the 100M dash in 14.07. Teammate Belle Sand took fourth. The 4x100M relay of Broadwater, Sand, Leah Scheevel and Sara Vettleson-Trutza won their race in 54.45. The 4x400M relay of Kendyl Bennett, Bailey Ruen, Paige Bennett, and Broadwater took first as well, breaking the tape in 4:24.66.

In discus, Olivia Haug won with a throw of 105-04. Fourth place went to teammate Katie Evans. Haug went on to take second in shot put, while Ruth Higbe-Harrah got fifth.

The 3200M run was won by Kiera Olson in 12:32.10. Teammate Emily Snyder took second.

Michaela Brazee won the pole vault at 7-00.00. Maggie Decker and Paige Dolinger added team points for the Burros as well, taking second and fourth, respectively.

The 4x800M relay of Vettleson-Trutza, Leah Ruen, Olson, and Alyssa Gathje took second place, as did the 4x200M featuring Scheevel, Decker, Cassidy Ruud, and Kendyl Bennett.

Bailey Ruen took second in the 1600M run, with Leah Ruen in fourth. In the 400M, Paige Bennett took second, with Ruud in fourth. Scheevel took second in the 200M dash, with Decker in fifth.

Rachel Eversole took third in the 100M hurdles. Gabrielle Shupe also earned a team point by snagging fifth. In the 300M hurdles, Eversole took third again.

The 800M run found Kendyl Bennett in third and Gathje in fifth.

Sand took fourth in high jump, and Broadwater did the same in long jump.


The track teams compete at Chatfield on Thursday in the subsection meet. The Section 1 meet is Tuesday, May 27, at Winona.
