Rose Marie Deters, 90, of Eitzen, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis., after a 17-year battle with cancer.

Rose Marie was born March 4, 1922, in Caledonia to Peter and Catherine (Greisch) Privet.

She married Erwin "Erv" A. Deters on June 1, 1944, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Caledonia. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2005.

She spent 17 years providing home daycare to many children and she touched their lives in a special way. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards.

Survivors include her six children, LeRoy (Cathy) Deters of Honolulu, Hawaii, Bernadette (Paul) Bladl of Lewisville, Texas, Carlene (Ken) Denton of Sparta, Wis., Rosine (Mac) Macomber of Caledonia, Jerry (Sally) Deters of Ames, Iowa, and Renee (Rich) Orth of Eitzen; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a brother, Ronald (Melba) Privet of Caledonia; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Luman Welscher; a brother and sister-in-law, LaVern and Nadine Privet; a nephew, Robert Deters; and a niece, Linda Peterson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 450 S. Pine St., Caledonia. The Rev. Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Holy Family Hall, next to the church, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
