Clarence Russell Klenke died on Saturday, June 21, 2014, of an apparent heart attack at his home.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1942, in Stewartville to Charles and Hollis (Schroeder) Klenke.

He grew up on the family farm in rural Racine, attended Racine Elementary School and Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1960.

He attended Rochester Junior College graduating with an associate degree in business and farmed with his family.

He was married on Aug. 18, 1973, at Racine United Methodist Church to Nancy D. Ward. Following their marriage the couple has lived on the Klenke family farm.

They were foster parents for many years. He began driving school bus for Jacobsen Bus Service in Racine and eventually purchased the business. He owned and operated Klenke Bus Service in Racine for many years providing school bus service for the Stewartville School District and charter bus service until selling the business.

He was bookkeeper for the bus company, was also employed at the Spring Valley Tribune and currently was employed at Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic.

He was a lifelong member of Racine United Methodist Church serving on most of its committees, teaching Sunday school and serving as a lay minister. He served on the Racine Township Board and the Spring Valley Historical Society Board.

He was a member of the Hamilton Cemetery Board, the Root River Historical Power Association and was a past member of the Racine Lions. He was an active participant and delegate of the Republican Party of Mower County. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, preferably Minneapolis-Moline, going on tractor drives and auctions. He especially enjoyed time spent with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sister, Ruth Ann (Bob) Miles of Rochester; brother, Harold (Loretta) Klenke of Jordan and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, June 26, at United Methodist Church in Racine with the Rev. Glen Holland officiating. Burial followed at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine.
