Mediacom Communications announced that the Big Ten Network has been added to its programming lineup in areas of southeast Minnesota where the company provides cable television and broadband services. The Big Ten Network is a national network dedicated exclusively to Big Ten Conference television programming.
In making the announcement, Regional Vice President Doug Frank said Mediacom customers will find both the Big Ten Network (BTN) and the network's high-definition channel, BTN HD, as new additions to Mediacom Family Cable. The new channels were added to Mediacom lineups during the past week, in time for the opening games of the Big Ten college football season.
Frank said he believes the Big Ten Network, dedicated to showcasing the nation's premier athletic conference, will be an instant hit with customers who are passionate fans of the numerous Big Ten universities located in the region. "I expect the BTN and BTN HD to become popular destinations for our customers very quickly."
Mediacom customers will find BTN on channel 75. Family Cable viewers with high-definition equipment will find BTN HD at channel 834. The high-definition channel addition is part of an expanding roster of HD programming automatically available at no additional cost to Mediacom Family Cable customers equipped for high-definition reception.
The Big Ten Network is the first nationally distributed network dedicated to covering one of the premier collegiate conferences in the country. With approximately 350 live events, and nearly all of them in HD, the network operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, showcasing a wide array of classic-to-current sports, as well as original programming produced by the network and by the conference's 11 member institutions.
