Donna Mae Risler, 78, once of Preston

Donna Mae Risler, 78, of Rochester and once of the Preston and Lanesboro area, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester where she had resided the past four months.
Donna Mae Boyer was born June 19, 1934, in Preston, to Howard and Marie (Gjerness) Boyer. She was a graduate of Lanesboro High School in 1952.
After school she worked at Zumbro Cafeteria, Schwann's Ice Cream, Ward's and was a waitress at Wong's Restaurant.
On July 21, 1956, she married Harold J. Risler in Decorah, Iowa. During their marriage they lived in Green Bay and Milwaukee, Wis., where Donna worked as a secretary at a finance company and as a church secretary. They returned to Rochester in 1990.
She enjoyed knitting, crafts, flowers, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Diane Risler of Rochester; two grandchildren, Joe Praski and Marisia (Mike) Young; and one great-grandson, Eli Young; two stepchildren, Joyce Colby and Joe Risler both of Osseo, Wis., and a special adoptive son, Zbigniew Polikowski of Racine, Wis.; two brothers, Phillip Boyer (Bonnie Finley) of Rochester and Willis Boyer (Marilyn) of Winona; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1998.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. Burial was at the St. Paul's Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Preston.
