Susan Brynsaas, 62, daughter of Mabel residents

Susan Brynsaas, 62, of Algona, Iowa, and formerly of Decorah, died on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at her home.
Susan Frances Rouster, the daughter of Blaine and Helen (Rouster) Gaare, was born on Nov. 8, 1951, in Caledonia.
She graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1969.
On April 12, 1969, she was united in marriage to Wesley Brynsaas in Mabel.
She had worked at Snap-On Tools for 30 years. After she was diagnosed with cancer, she retired in 2009. She was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1045.
She enjoyed collecting teddy bears, roosters, angels and "Gone With The Wind" memorabilia. She also enjoyed reading, playing darts, spending time with friends, walking and being outdoors, decorating for the holidays and making birthday cakes for Jesus on Christmas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years; children and grandchildren, Tlisa Brynsaas-Girlamo and her fiancé, Chuck Fox and her children, Christopher and Benjamin Girlamo of Albuquerque, N.M., Carrie (Brett) Barglof and their children, Bennett Barglof and his fiancé, Victoria Morse of Aurelia, Iowa, Brenten Barglof of Cherokee and Amy Brynsaas-Haley, her special friend, Mike Sulby and her children, Jasmine and Javon Haley of Clear Lake, Iowa; her parents, Blaine and Helen Gaare of Mabel; two brothers, Michael Rouster of Winona and Dennis (Myong) Gaare of Huntsville, Ala.; and four sisters, Angela Gaare, Cynthia Gaare and Jackie (Eric Starke) Gaare, all of Minneapolis, and Deanna Gaare of Preston.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with the Rev. Dr. Steven Turner officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery in Mabel. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
