Falcons get second win; Woellert delivers in seventh

The Fillmore Central/Lanesboro baseball team got its second win of the season, downing GMLOK, 8-7, on a walk-off single by Gatlin Woellert, in the bottom of the seventh inning last Friday. FC/L scored three runs on two hits and two errors in the seventh inning. The hits were by Kiel Larson and Woellert. Andy Love had one rbi and Woellert had two. Larson, Love and Nick Mensink scored the runs. The tying and winning runs came with two outs.
FC/L had 13 hits in the game, led by Andy Love (3), Josh Jones (2) and Kiel Larson (2). Coming up with solo "dingers" were Garrett Boggs, Nick Powell, Collin Scott, Clay Olson, Nick Mensink and Gatlin Woellert.
Offensively, Andy Love had a great game. In addition to his three hits, he also had three runs-batted-in and scored three runs. Woellert finished the game with a total of three rbi and Josh Jones had two. One of Jones' hits was a triple, scoring two runs for the Falcons in the sixth inning.
Josh Jones was on the mound the entire game for the Falcons, giving up four earned runs, 11 hits, one walk, and striking out five.

In other games last week, the Falcons lost two to Chatfield ( 22-14, 14-1) and two to Caledonia/Spring Grove (12-3, 5-0).
In game one against the Gophers, Nick Powell led the offense with four hits and five rbi. Others getting hits in that game were Garrett Boggs (2), Kiel Larson (2), Andy Love (2), Clay Olson, Nick Mensink and Kirby O'Connor. Runs were scored by Boggs (3), Larson (3), Love (3), Olson, Powell, Blake Bigalk and O'Connor (2).
No details were available for game two against Chatfield.
The two games against the Caledonia/Spring Grove Warriors were both scheduled for five innings.
Game one had Gatlin Woellert (1-2/3 innings) and Kirby O'Connor (2-1/3 innings) on the mound. Each gave up six runs. Woellert struck out two batters, O'Connor struck out one. Nick Powell led the hitting with three, with Kirby O'Connor adding two. Coming up with one hit each were Garrett Boggs, Kiel Larson, Andy Love and Clay Olson. Boggs, Olson and Powell had the rbi.
In game two, coach Keith Larson went with a couple "youngsters" on the mound. B squader Collin Scott pitched the first four innings, with fellow "bomber" Cole Schwichtenberg going the last inning. Scott gave up five runs and five hits, while Schwichtenberg threw one inning of hitless ball. Nick Mensink had the only hit for the locals.
The Falcons are currently 2-5 in TRC play, and 2-7, overall. Tuesday the team hosted Southland, Thursday they will travel to Rushford-Peterson for a double-header and Friday they will host Lyle/Pacelli in a non-conference game. The team finishes up the regular season with a game against St. Charles on Saturday and the season finale against Dover-Eyota on Monday.
