The Burros visited Glenville-Emmons on Friday, Jan. 4, coming away with a 41-13 victory in a game that was called in the second period due to an injury.
Johanna Bearson led the LHS offense with 10 points, followed by Olivia Haug with 8 and Alisa Warnes with 7.
Haug led the team on the boards, with 6 rebounds and a steal to her credit. Kaia Hongerholt and Bailey Gartner had 4 rebounds each, as did Heather Boyum. Warnes had 3 rebounds and led the team in thefts with 3, while Boyum had 2.
For the Wolverines, senior guard Jamie Williamson and senior guard Karrin Olson scored four points each.
LHS coach Kelly McMillen reported that he was proud of the focus and effort the Burros brought to the floor, holding G-E to 8 points in the first period. "It was a good test for us to see if we could come out and take care of business the way we are supposed to," he said. Lanesboro's offense was solid and balanced, with seven players scoring.
"Unfortunately we didn't get to finish the game because a player from Glenville-Emmons fainted and cracked her head pretty hard against the floor," McMillen said. "She had to be removed from the gym by a paramedic crew; at that point in time they decided to call the game."
The Burros played Houston on Jan. 7, losing to the Hurricanes 74-82. Look for a complete report in next week's Republican-Leader. On Jan. 10, Lanesboro has a make-up game scheduled at Spring Grove.
