Elmer M. Grabau, 89, of Wykoff, died Sunday evening, May 11, 2014, at the Spring Valley Care Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Forestville Township, Fillmore County, the son of Adolph and Anna (Groth) Grabau.

He attended country school.

He farmed in Forestville Township until his marriage to Leona Bjortomt on April 15, 1947, in Wykoff. The couple continued to farm in Forestville Township and then Carimona Township until they retired and moved to Wykoff. Since then he had worked at Gehling Auction in Preston. His wife died July 15, 2005.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff and the Golden Guernsey Association. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, card player and was a custom combiner.

He is survived by six children, Larry and special friend, Sue of Silver Bay, Dennis and special friend Carol of Lime Springs, Iowa, Terry (Joann) of Chisago City, Rose (Rick) Purvis of Reads Landing, Dan (Deb) of Wykoff and Tim of Wykoff; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Thompson of Spring Valley; three brothers, Raymond (Mildred) Grabau of Wykoff, Curtis Grabau of Rochester and Lynden "Butch" (Helen) Grabau of Austin; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Grabau of Spring Valley and Ruth Grabau of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife; granddaughter, Tonya Grabau; five brothers and one sister.

The funeral was Thursday, May 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff with the Rev. Kay Wold officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
