Mina A. Benson, 91, of Zumbrota, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Angel's Care Center in Cannon Falls.

Mina A. Bye was born on July 1, 1922, in Hennepin County, to Henry and Pearl (Rohe) Bye. She graduated from Osseo High School in 1940 and the University of Minnesota with a degree in home economics education.

On June 7, 1944, she married Curtis C. Benson. They lived in various places while Curtis served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. They also lived in Owatonna, Burnsville, Northfield and in 1967 they made their home in Zumbrota. She was a homemaker for several years and also worked at Curtis Benson and Sons, Inc., as a bookkeeper.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading books, gardening and planting, and canning jams and jelly. She especially enjoyed family time. She was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene (Gretchen) of Wanamingo, Craig of Zumbrota, Dale of Mazeppa and Ellis (Elaine) of Zumbrota; daughters, Barbara Schilling of St. Paul, Bette (Dave) Lundquist of Blaine; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsa Bye of Preston; and sister-in-law, Muriel Steberg of Wanamingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis C., on Dec. 12, 1991; her sons, Curtis H. (Butch) and David; and an infant son and daughter.

A memorial service was held last Thursday at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with the Rev. Tom Isaacson officiating. Burial was in Holden Lutheran Church Cemetery.
