Ores Odland, 85, once of Lanesboro

Ores Stanley Odland, 85, of Good Shepherd Care Center in Rushford, formerly of Lanesboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, Wis., where he had been a patient for one day.
He was born Dec. 19, 1926, to Helleck and Tonna (Olson) Odland. He grew up in the Whalan area, farming with his parents for many years. He loved farming and was always ready to help friends and neighbors whenever he was needed.
He was a lifelong member of Whalan Lutheran Church. He liked watching television, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his niece, Karen Ruble of Mason City, Iowa; two great-nephews, Tim Ruble of Carrollton, Texas, and Nathan Ruble of Bismarck, N.D.; and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Whalan Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Oct. 17, with the Rev. Patricia Hinkie presiding. Interment was in the Whalan Lutheran Cemetery.
Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro was in charge of arrangements.
