Track team runs wild at L-A

The Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/Mabel-Canton track and field team had a heyday at the Lewiston-Altura Invitational on April 17, winning the girls team competition and taking second in boys events.
There were nine programs represented at the meet, with the L/FC/M-C girls totaling 116 points to Dover-Eyota's second-place 114 and Rushford-Peterson's 100 (good for third). In boys team totals, R-P took first at 121, L/FC/M-C got 114, and third-place went to Wabasha-Kellogg with 80.
Kendyl Bennett won the 400-meter dash in just over one minute five seconds (1:05.69). She also ran on the first-place 4x800M relay with Paige Bennett, Leah Ruen, and Alyssa Gathje, which posted a time of 10:35.04.
The 4x200M relay team of Paige Bennett, Rachel Eversole, Cassidy Ruud, and Sara Vettleson-Trutza won that event in 1:59.78.
Kiera Olson won the 3200-meter run in 12:15.53.
Finally, Olivia Haug won two events, posting a distance of 31 feet three and a half inches (31-03.50), and throwing the discus 105-05.
Kenzie Broadwater took second in the 200M dash, while Bailey Ruen finished second in the 1600M run. The 4x400M relay of Kendyl Bennett, Gathje, Paige Bennett, and Broadwater also took second.
Bailey Ruen took third in the 800M run, and Leah Ruen took third in the 1600M run. Broadwater also took third in long jump.
The 4x100 relay of Rachel Kimball, Paige Dolinger, Leah Scheevel, and Gabrielle Shupe took fourth in their event.
Sara Vettleson-Trutza took fifth in the 400M dash. Eversole also scored team points with two fourth-place finishes - in the 100M and 300M hurdles.
Broadwater added a team point with a sixth-place in the 100M dash, while Scheevel took sixth in the 200M dash. Maggie Decker took sixth in pole vault.
In boys events, Quentin Case won the 110M hurdles in 17.07. Travis Troendle won the 3200M run in 10:57.61. Finally, Zach Voeltz won the 800M run in 2:16.41. He also took second in the 1600M.
Other second-places included Case in the 300M hurdles, Gabe Decker in pole vault, and two relay squads. Those included the 4x100M featuring Niko Anderson, Monty Holm, Bram Van Lent and Decker, and the 4x200M team of Anderson, Damon Zutz, Case, and Decker.
Anderson scored third-place points in the 100M dash. Van Lent took third in two events - the 110M and 300M hurdles. The 4x800 relay of Treyton Chiglo, Michael Harrison, Steven Rein, and Troendle took third, as did shot put thrower Eric Holst.
Decker scored fourth in the 200M dash, while Marcus Mulvihill took fourth in high jump.
The 4x400M team of Chiglo, Zutz, Reed, and Holm scored a fifth-place, as did Holst in the discuss throw.
