Marilyn Trouten, 78, of Harmony, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at her home in Harmony.
She was born May 22, 1936, in Harmony to Merlin and Margaret (Roelofs) Scrabeck. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1954 and worked at Lutheran Brotherhood in Minneapolis for two years.
She married Robert Trouten on June 7, 1958, at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. For many years she was a bookkeeper at Trouten Implement in Harmony. She also operated the Harmony Tourism office for over 15 years along with many other “gigs.”
She was very active in the Harmony-area community and donated her time to do volunteer work for the Harmony Historical Society, community theater and the community band. She was a lifelong member of Greenfield Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. She loved music, was an avid reader and enjoyed taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Trouten of Harmony; four children, Bill (Renita) Trouten of Minnetonka, Minn., Scott (Lorrie) Trouten of Harmony, Rachel (Blair) Peterson of Eagan and Jason (Jessica) Trouten of South St. Paul; six grandchildren, Hope Marlow, Blair, Jacob and Zachery Peterson, Rylan and Chase Trouten; a great-grandchild, Mason Stenzel; six siblings, Jerald (Cheryl) Scrabeck of Rochester, Carol (Robert) Miller of Harmony, Ronald (Nancy) Scrabeck of Harmony, Arlyn (Linda) Scrabeck of Chatfield, Danny (Nancy) Scrabeck of Elkton and Cindy (Mike) Beltz of Minnetonka; an uncle, Clayton Roelofs of Rushford; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery.
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony assisted the family with arrangements.
