Bohlen Henry Thye, 69, of Roland, Iowa, died July 29, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1945, to Carl W. and Lenore A. (Bohlen) Thye in Burlington, Iowa.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 and was a member of the Roland American Legion.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Farm Operations from Iowa State University.
On June 4, 1972, he married Joy Lou Ann Hermanson in Garretson, S.D. They were missionaries with the Navigators in Indonesia from 1976 to 1984 and have since worked with international students at Iowa State.
He worked at Ball Corporation in Ames and American Packaging in Story City, retiring in August of 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Thye of Roland; four daughters, Christine Thye of Omaha, Neb., Angela (Mike) Sansone of Omaha, Neb., Michelle Thye of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Elizabeth (Kossi) Abathan of West Des Moines, Iowa, and one sister, Elaine (Warren) Anderson of Fountain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lynette Hester and his brother, Leonard Thye.
