Julius Robert Waldenberger, 85, of rural Chaseburg, Wis., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice in Viroqua, Wis.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, to Louis Sr. and Ann (Roeter) Waldenberger and grew up on a farm in rural Onalaska, Wis., graduating from Holmen High School.
He served two years in the Army during the Korea War, and after being honorably discharged, he graduated from Milwaukee Agriculture College.
In 1956, he bought a dairy farm in rural Chaseburg. On April 26, 1962, he married Sandra Spurbeck in Faribault, N.D. To this union 11 children and 13 grandchildren were born.
Julius enjoyed playing euchre, his trips taken with his children hunting and fishing, as well as his many trips all over the world with Sandy and his children.
He also enjoyed getting old bread from the Hostess Store in La Crosse to feed to his cows and taking the Amish to run their errands. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Julius' children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra of 51 years; his children, Karen (Doug) Darling of New Albin, Iowa, Carol (Dennis) Kraabel of Westby, Wis., Deborah Waldenberger of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth (Heidi) of Spring Grove, Michael (Lisa) of Viroqua, Cindy (Tony) Roberts of West Salem, Wis., June Waldenberger (Nick Bederski) of Sydney, Australia, Linda Waldenberger (Boris Gaedtke) of Scottsdale, Ariz., George of Orlando, Fla., Julie Waldenberger (Jason Lems) of Madison, Wis., and Emily Waldenberger also of Scottsdale; and his grandchildren, Kimberly, Denise and Ryan Kraabel, Michael, John and Aiden Piekarz, Kendra and Garrett Waldenberger, Chelsea and Natalie Waldenberger, Abigail Garness, Max Gaedtke and Liam Ford.
He is further survived by nephews, great-nephews, and a good friend, Darrell Christianson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Eugene (Gene) Waldenberger, Richard Waldenberger, and Louis (Bud) Waldenberger Jr., and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Waldenberger.
