Leland Carlyle Weymiller, 95, of Mabel and formerly of New Albin, Iowa, and Spring Grove died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Green Lea Manor in Mabel.

He was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Iowa Township, Iowa, to Fred and Ethel (Hope) Weymiller. He attended rural school.

Lee married Verna Jacobson; she preceded him in death in 1973. He later married Orpha (Bergrud) Gulbranson on Sept. 6, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.

Lee farmed in New Albin until moving to Spring Grove. He continued to drive back and forth to work on the farm until 2007.

He was a lifelong Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church member and resident of the area.

Lee enjoyed farming, spending time with his family, picnics, visiting with people and dancing. He was a member of the Upper Iowa Saddle Club and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Orpha of Mabel; children, Carole (Harlan) Yohe of Waukon, Iowa, Joyce (Mel) Breeser of La Crescent, Gary (Diane) of New Albin, Cheryl Gulbranson of Highlandville, Iowa, Deborah (Wayne) Buxengard of Mabel and Lynette (Merle) Landsom of La Crescent; grandchildren, Dawn (Warren) Schmidt, Lisa Feuerhelm, Jamie (Becky) Breeser, Brad (Kim) Yohe, Kristi (Tim) Fahey, Craig Yohe, Rick Yohe, Michelle (Matt) Byrnes, Mitchell, Matteson and Maggy Weymiller, Ryan (Beth) Buxengard, Brooke (Matt) Garness, Tiffany (Chris) Langen and Rylee Landsom; and great-grandchildren, Grant and Simon Buxengard, Samuel Garness, Eric and Drew Schmidt, Blake and Austin Feuerhelm, Wyatt and Cody Breeser, Hope and Hannah Fahey, Brett Yohe, Milan, Mason and Marcus Byrnes, Parker Yohe and Caitlin, Taylor and Blake Troendle.

He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Evelyn Wild of Lansing, Iowa, Hope (Jack) Griffin, of Rochester, Donald Weymiller of New Albin, Nancy (Tom) Collins of Brown Deer, Wis., and Ron (Lois) Weymiller of New Albin.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Verna, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Jr., and four sisters, Helen Campbell, Lorna Vichlach, Betty Smerud and Shirley Bulman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in rural New Albin. The Rev. Paul Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
