Marion Anderson, 90, of La Crosse, Wis., and formerly of Spring Grove, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse.

Born Oct. 24, 1923, to Rudolph and Bertha (Sylling) Tweeten, Marion graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1941. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Science Degree from Winona State University.

Marion and Albert (Chuck) Anderson were married Nov. 7, 1944, at Camp Butner, N.C.

Marion taught business education classes for five years in Minnesota and 28 years at Central High School and Western Technical Institute in La Crosse. She retired in November 1985.

Marion was a member of North Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. She was a member of the Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association.

Marion is held in loving memory by her family, daughter, Kristy (Tom) Watson of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; son, Lee (Lori) Anderson of Eagan; daughter-in-law, Lisa Docken of La Crescent; and grandchildren Gretchen (Ben) Heavner of Seattle, Wash., Erik and Christopher Anderson of Eagan, Ian and Blake Anderson of La Crescent, and great-grandson Eli Heavner of Seattle. She is also survived by her sister, Jean (Donald) Alsop of North Oaks and her sister-in-law, Helen (Charles) Duncanson of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Bertha Tweeten; her husband, Albert (Chuck) Anderson; her son, Russell Anderson; her brother & sister-in-law, Harlan and Louise Tweeten; and sister and brother-in-law, La Vonne and Ralph Watson.

Marion's family would like to thank the employees at Bethany Riverside for the loving care she received during the time she lived there. The Rev. Scott Skogen of North Presbyterian Church provided comfort and kind support to Marion and family during the past two years.

Memorial services for Marion will be held at North Presbyterian Church in La Crosse on May 15 at 11 a.m. Burial of her cremains will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Grove. Memorials may be given to North Presbyterian Church, Bethany Riverside or donor's choice. Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove is assisting the family.
