“Danke” and “Merci” to Spring Grove...
Hi, we are Johanna and Tanguy; we are from Germany and France. Since last August we've been in Spring Grove, going to school as YFU (Youth for Understanding) exchange students.
Now it's time to head home towards our home countries, and we would like to say thank you to everyone in Spring Grove for giving us the chance to live here and have such a great time.
We are going to miss our friends and teachers at SGHS; you all helped us learn about American ways of life, customs, language and a lot of other things.
We will never forget this year and all the new things we did, like being in different sports, homecoming and prom, graduation and many other things we're not able to list since there are so many!
We would also like to thank Lee Grippen as our area representative from our exchange organization YFU for taking care of us this year!
But most importantly, we would like to thank our host families; the Bornholdts - Todd, Lisa, Blake, Autumn and Kennedy and the Deschlers - Joe, Marlene, Logan, Mariah and Addison. You are the ones that opened your houses for us for 10 months. We both enjoyed staying with you a lot!
In the end, we can say that we had a good time here in Spring Grove and saying goodbye will be very hard for both of us.
And finally, we want to say "Danke" and "Merci" to Spring Grove for making our stay the best it could be!
Johanna Koch and Tanguy de Monval
Tanguy de Monval of Colombes, France, was hosted by the Todd and Lisa Bornholdt family and Johanna Koch of Eslohe, Westphalia Germany, was hosted by the Joe and Marlene Deschler family.
Both students were involved in many school and community activities during their stay.
In August, Frida Bryn of Solbergelva, Norway, will arrive to become a member of the 2014 Senior Class of Spring Grove High School. She will be hosted by David and Rachel Storlie. Frida's father was hosted by Lee and Gayle Grippen (Rachel's parents) during the 1977-1978 school year in Caledonia.
Families are needed for new YFU students arriving in August for the new school year. Please contact Lee Grippen in Caledonia for further information about hosting at (507) 725-3281 or (507) 450-4534.
