The Spring Grove boys (20-6) received the no. 3 seed in the 1A East Sub-section Tournament which begins this week. The Lions open on Thursday, Feb. 28 at home against no. 6 Schaeffer Academy (14-10). SG has twice defeated the other Lions in the conference - 82-57 in Rochester and 91-72 in Spring Grove. A win could mean a rubber-game rematch with no. 2 seed Lanesboro in a March 4 semi-final at Rochester.

State-ranked no. 7 Rushford-Peterson (21-3) was the unanimous choice for the top sub-section seed, having already soundly defeated five of their sub-section rivals - including seeds no. 2, 3 and 4.

Last year, R-P edged SG in overtime in the 1A-East championship game. In the past 16 years, the Trojans' sub-section record is 44-3.
