The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Caledonia is very proud of its Earth Team volunteers and their commitment to conservation.

The Earth Team is the volunteer workforce of the NRCS and they are making a difference in every county in the nation.

The Caledonia NRCS wants to take this opportunity to acknowledge the service of Machele Bollman for being a valued member of the local conservation team.

Bollman lives in La Crescent and attends school at Northeast Iowa Community College for agri-business. She donated close to 300 hours in service will also being a mother of two boys and a veteran. Bollman completed a tour in Iraq during Operation Iraq Freedom and has earned the rank of sergeant.

Bollman received school internship credits for her work at the NRCS and received lots of valuable work experience.

Earth Team volunteers are an integral part of the conservation partnership and each member takes pride in the fact that they maintain and improve the country's natural resources and environment on private lands.

The job of conserving natural resources cannot be done by the government alone. The Caledonia NRCS needs the public's help in reducing soil erosion, conserving our water and improving its quality and developing pride in Houston County's natural resource heritage.

To volunteer or learn more, contact the NRCS office by calling Gary Larson at (507) 724-5261 or stop by 805 N. Hwy. 44/76 in Caledonia (next to Dollar General).
