The Kingsland Key Club will be holding a car wash Saturday, August 17, in the Sunshine Foods parking lot.
This will be a free will donation event; the money will be used to help send Key Club members to the annual Fall Convention, as well as other administrative purposes.
In addition to the car wash, Kingsland Builder's Club will be joining with Key Club to help run a lemonade stand. The proceeds will all go towards Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, which is an organization to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who passed away in 2004 at the age of eight. In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.
Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
To date, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $60 million toward fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 300 research projects nationally.
