Spring Valley is getting ready to Light Up the Night on Friday, July 25, as part of the Friday Fun Nights series in Spring Creek Park.

Running from 7 to 11 p.m. the festivities boasts a two-mile bike event at 8 p.m. and two-mile walk/run event beginning at 8:30 p.m.

There is no registration fee for the event but if participants would like to receive a goody bag of items to help "light up the night" they must pre-register by July 16.

T-shirts will also be available for $5, but make sure you get your order in by the July 14 deadline.

The event will mark the end of the walk/bike/run challenge. As part of the challenge participants were asked to track their mileage from June through July.

Competitors who complete 10 miles per week will be entered in a drawing for each of the eight weeks of competition. Winners will receive $50 in Spring Valley money. Challenge calendars must be turned in by July 25 either during the event or earlier at city hall.

Of course, there will be many other activities for the family to enjoy, including inflatables, games and food. Beginning at 8 p.m., the Rochester-based band Incognito will be making toes tap with their unique and entertaining music.

Spring Valley is one of 10 communities in Minnesota celebrating healthy living throughout the summer during these Family Fun Nights thanks in part to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. The Spring Valley Area Community Foundation is also sponsoring the festivities.
