Spring Valley-Wykoff FFA members were awarded eight team trophies and eight individual awards during the Region VIII awards night April 3 at Dover-Eyota High School.

The team and individual awards mean that those teams and individuals will be moving onto state in April.

Receiving awards on April 3 included: mechanics team, third place; Caleb Frank, first place individual; dairy foods team, first place; Taylor Link, first individual; Melinda Woods, second place individual; fish and wildlife team, first place; floriculture team, second place; Paige Brandt, third place individual; forestry team, third place; horse team, first place; Autumn Kappers, second place individual; Haley Schwinefus, third place individual; meats team, third place; Marcus Plaehn first place individual; nursery landscape team, first place; Hannah Frank, first place individual; and Brianna Musel, second place job interview.

Two members of the Spring Valley-Wykoff FFA chapter were installed as regional officers. Valerie Earley is the Region VIII president and Dane Gillespie is the Region VIII assistant officer (see related story). Also, local advisor Kristal Brogan will serve as the region advisor for the 2013-2014 school year.
