The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland wrestling team, henceforth known as GMLOK, or Bulldogs, traveled to Faribault last week for an individual tournament.
"We only wrestled at five weights," said coach Bill Simpkins. "Youth, inexperience and injuries hampered us some."
Jace Bunne, 132 lbs.; 0-2. Lost to the #8 ranked kid from Apple Valley and then lost 10-7 in his wrestle-back match. "He was impressive," said Simpkins, "but frustrated, going 0-2 when he wrestled so well."
Blake Olson, 138 lbs.; 2-3, sixth place. "Very balanced, and tough, weight class," said Simpkins.
Sam Roe, 145 lbs.; 1-2; Sam defaulted in his second wrestle-back match. "He should be back in action this week."
Parker Hale, 145 lbs.; 2-2, sixth place.
Lucas Roe, 170 lbs.; 4-1, third place. "Lucas lost in the semi-finals to the #1 AAA wrestler from AV. A solid day for Lucas," said Simpkins. "Won his third place match over the #6 AAA kid from Andover."
Wyatt Richardson, 182 lbs.; 3-2, fourth place. "Another very solid weight class. There wasn't much separating the top six in this weight class."
John Barber (100 lbs., fourth place); Brent Olson (105 lbs., first); Jacob Oehlke (105 lbs., third); Blake Benson (195 lbs., first place) and Brock Fiegel (220 lbs., second place).
