"It was hot and windy," said coach Amber Uhlenhake about the cross-country meet at Plainview last Tuesday, "but we still had a few great performances." Cited for their "gutsie" running were Melinda Woods, Scott Lechner and Tom Mettler.

"We're gearing up for the TRC meet and really need everyone to individually, have their best day, and make it a great team race", added coach Uhlenhake. The meet was scheduled for Tuesday, after this edition went to press.

Sophomore Hunter Meisner was the first Knight across the finish line for the boys, coming in at 20:00.9, good for 56th. Next in line for Kingsland were freshman Zachary Buchholtz (65th, 20:27.9), junior Dane Gillespie (71st, 20:43.3), sophomore Adam Buchholtz (82nd, 21:20.7), Michael Willford (90th, 21:49.6), Mettler (22:29.0, 105th), and Lechner (107th, 22:32.0).

Alex Campbell (25:42) and James Hayes-Hall (27:37.6) ran in the JV race. Logan O'Connell ran 3,200 meters in the junior high race, finishing with a time of 16:05.4.

Freshman Erica Earley finished 35th for the Knights in the varsity race, crossing the finish line in 18:10.4. Senior Woods ran a strong race, coming in 44th with a time of 18:32.4. Also running the 4,000 meters in the varsity meet were freshman Andrea Mettler (63rd 19:12.0), eighth grader Jocelyn Voeltz (68th, 19:28.2), freshman Marina Schwanke (82nd, 20:39.8), Gretchen Corson (100th, 21:45.1) and senior Jamie Thompson (106th, 22:12.0).

The gals finished 10th as a team, while the boys were 12th of 13.

The Knights had three junior girls running 3,200 meters; Renee Lechner (11th, 16:24.6), Audrey Farlinger (15th, 17:20.7) and Kendall Drury-Deboer (26th, 20:51.6).

The Three Rivers Conference meet was run in Chatfield this past Tuesday. The Section 1A Meet is Thursday, Oct. 24, in Rochester.
