Relay for Life wants everyone to "Celebrate More Birthdays"
Friends, colleagues, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, neighbors... all kinds of people and relationships will be gathered in Houston for the annual event that will bring smiles along with tears - Houston County's Relay For Life 2010. This year's event is Friday, Aug. 6 at the Cross of Christ Church in Houston.

Liquor store manager's status reviewed
Correction

In last week's article "Liquor store manager's status reviewed" the Herald reported that Lanny Hatten was present when Sid Halverson cut down the tree in front of the liquor store.

After verification with Police Chief Paul Folz, it was determined that Mr. Hatten told Chief Folz in his interview that he was present when there was a conversation about the tree earlier that morning, but was not present when the tree was actually cut down.

The Herald apologizes for the error.

Aaron Emery Earns highest Boy Scout rank
The Eagle Scout rank is the highest advancement rank for a Boy Scout and often a goal when he begins the program. Aaron Emery, Spring Grove High School Class of 2010 member, was recently awarded his Eagle Scout Award at a ceremony in front of fellow scouts, family and friends.

Around 50 residents attended the July 13 meeting of the Houston County Board. The future of the Houston County Airport was discussed, with attendees voicing opinions both for and against a proposal to take advantage of federal funds to enlarge and improve the facility.
